A Real Deal

Everything was so surreal when the nurse recruiter called me offering me a new grad position. Two weeks later, I was sitting in the human resources signing the hiring paperwork. I had to do a physical exam, and a blood test. I also got my lovely name badge. I don’t know why but I got really excited over a name badge — I guess it makes me feel like a real nurse. Anyway, I really wish that I can start Monday but I won’t be medically cleared until Tuesday. It sucks because I am already so behind. The new grad program already started a week ago so I will have a lot to catch up. Oh well, at least it will give me more time to gather all the supplies I will need and also to look for a place. While the nurse recruiter was touring me around the unit I am going to be working in, I got nervous - I told myself that this is a real deal now.

I am very grateful that God provides me with this job and I can’t wait to see what God has in store for me. I am confident that He will guide through every steps. Galatians 5:25 “Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.”

p.s I really miss my dogs. I hope to be able to go get them soon.

I GOT THE JOB!!!

Praise the Lord.

I can’t even explain how I feel right now. It has been a long journey. I am super excited!

bloopz asked: Thanks!! Your reply was really helpful! For the hurst lectures, did you use the book or any of the documents she talks about (like handouts)?

No, I didn’t have the book with me. I used the handouts to go along with the lectures but that was the only time I look at them.

bloopz asked: hi congrats!!!!! what did you use to study for the nclex? how did you study? after you graduated, when did you start studying? and what kind of things did you see a lot of on it?

I used Saunders Comprehensive Review book (4th Edition) and Kaplan book. However, I didn’t look at the Kaplan book much at all. I mostly did the Q-bank questions which are VERY helpful!! I would definitely recommend it since those questions are very similar to the NCLEX. (NCLEX questions weren’t a surprised to me at all - I felt like I was just doing another Kaplan Q-bank questions) For Saunders, I read a couple chapters and did the questions on the cd to review the content. Oh, I also listened the Hurst lecture which I got from my friends. Hurst was different than Kaplan though - Hurst really helped me to understand the content and the pathophysiology of each body systems which builds a strong foundation for me. I started to studying for NCLEX mid January and took the test mid February so it was about a month of studying (about 6 hours a day). Since it has been a while since I took the test, I don’t quite remember what exactly are on the test but I know that I got A LOT of check all the apply questions and many of medication and infection control questions so you definitely should brush up on those. Well, Good Luck on your test!!  Let me know if you have any more questions :)

God is good

John 15:7 “But if you remained in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!”

I started to feel hopeless after have not yet landed a single interview and being rejected left and right. Yesterday, God answered my prayers. He granted me an interview in a large hospital system and it is also a faith-based organization. How awesome is that! Whether this is where He wants me to serve or not, He keeps my hope alive. I have an interview next week so please keep me in your prayers. In the meantime, I am still going to keep applying everywhere. I hope to someday living my dream as a RN.
